#UpdateBar: Future of the fashion industry
Which trends will determine the future? Who will have a significant influence on these?
About this event
Which trends will determine the future? Who will have a significant influence on these? Which technologies, innovations or developments will shape our society and politics in North Rhine-Westphalia in the future? Where is the next update waiting for us?
As part of the #UpdateBar series, the Rotonda Business Club, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom cordially invite you to become part of a strong future network in an informal atmosphere. In their talks at the counter of the Rotonda Business Club, our experts provide surprising, innovative or controversial impulses and challenge us all to think “out of the box”.
The #UpdateBar provides inspiration around the question of how education can work in the future.
About the speakers: Anna Franziska Michel is a Tech Ambassador and founder and CEO of yoona.ai, a B2B solution for design process automation and is one of the 1% of applicants Techstars invests in. She started as a fashion designer and came to artificial intelligence and the use of neural networks for the design field through self-taught programming. She was selected by Strive Magazine as one of the top business influencers in technology and was awarded the Digital Female Leader Award in the Innovation category.
Heiko Wunder created the wunderwerk fashion brand and stands for a unique and conscious symbiosis of fashion and sustainability. wunderwerk’s standards are measured by the well-being of nature, animals and people, which it makes clear with the slogan “more than Organic,” which emphasizes that the entire value chain is important for a fair, sustainable product.
But even though sustainability is a matter of course for wunderwerk and a fundamental part of the brand’s mission, the fashion claim is just as important in the collections. Because wunderwerk is not “eco” fashion, but meets the current zeitgeist 100% and shows sustainability in its most fashionable, modern form.

In an industry that, due to its fast pace, depends on being agile, future-oriented and customer-focused, you need a keen sense of social trends and change processes. And although customers are now demanding sustainable and environmentally conscious products, as well as transparent production processes, the fashion industry is almost overtaking itself, producing more and more goods in ever shorter cycles. How “old fashioned” is the fashion industry when it comes to modernizing or even replacing familiar processes? The technological ABC of the future could be: Artificial Intelligence – Blockchain – Cloud. So far, however, these have been used mostly to improve already established online stores in the areas of deep learning or natural language processing to improve the customer experience. Yet these three technologies could do much more: by using artificial intelligence, 3D, augmented and virtual reality, tedious manual design processes can be reduced to a few mouse clicks, new bestsellers can be designed and even upcoming trends can be discovered.
Together with our two guests, we would like to explore these and other questions at the #UpdateBar:
- Can AI replace the designer?
- Could the use of AI avoid overproduction and “store overstocks” and thus make an important contribution to the sustainability of the fashion industry?
- To what extent can blockchain technology help to track supply chains and products used and thus improve local production conditions?
We look forward to an inspiring evening and your questions!
