You see triggers everywhere: “The 30 best prompts”, “The best tips for Canva”, “Are you already automating?”, “Stop just asking ChatGPT questions, you need to build chains”, “Get apps built in 5 seconds”, “Everything easy and everything very fast, in less than a minute”, “Why are you still working at all?” “I’ll show you how to get rich”, “Have you already done this or this or this or this?”

Do these stress makers sound familiar? Do you really know anyone who got rich in 60 seconds just because they integrated an automation chain?

It all sounds like pure actionism to me, you don’t even have to think anymore, just give orders. You don’t actually have to do anything anymore, if you believe the many postings out there. But one thing is clear: someone has to give these orders and think them through.

Between hype, hustle and hysteria: why not every trend is your trend

What is this actually about? Real trends or mere flash in the pan? Someone else is always quicker and blurts out: “Look, I have 20,000 followers, you only have 500. You don’t have any reach, you’re not good enough, can you do real social media or whatever your topic is?” I find these statements very provocative and incorrect. Because if someone works full-time for a company as a social media manager, he or she will invest all their energy in this topic. The success of this person is not how many followers he or she has, but how many his or her employer or client has, and even that is not important. It’s how much engagement and sales were generated by one action or another. Today, the belief has somehow arisen that if you have a mass following, you are also qualitatively important and good. Is that the case? I doubt that. Marketing is about something else. Of course it’s also about visibility and not about every trend. Build your brand, your character and then decide what will help you build trust and win important customers for you or your company in the long term.

Resilience instead of sensory overload: how strong brands escape the FOMO trap

Be careful not to fall into the Fomo trap. “Fear of Missing Out” is no joke and should be taken very seriously. It refers to the psychological stress of constantly living with the fear of missing out on social events, trends or opportunities. FOMO is massively amplified by social media. It often affects teenagers, young adults and women. FOMO leads to social comparison, anxiety, sensory overload and feelings of inferiority. The way out lies in conscious digital detoxification, mindfulness and learning “JOMO” (Joy of Missing Out).

Resilience is the most important building block in these fast-moving times. Markets are constantly changing, but if your brand, your company, your business model and your personality are resilient enough, you will overcome various challenges, avoid pure actionism and not overreact.

It is imperative for your brand resilience and your marketing to keep your eyes and ears open, to keep developing, but not to reinvent yourself every 30 seconds. One more thought: If AI really does everything on its own soon, it will no longer reinvent itself. It will also become replaceable and what happens if you turn off the juice? For personal happiness, it is also important to create content yourself again and have it checked by the assistant.

My tip for the new year: Sometimes it is good and very helpful to switch off disruptions and work on your own goals.
